Katura Wright

Katura N. Wright currently serves as the Assistant State Conservationist-Programs at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) State Office in Athens, Georgia. 

Katura attended Fort Valley State University (FVSU) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Science with a concentration in Soils. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Jackson State University. 

She began her work with NRCS as a student trainee while attending FVSU in the Brunswick, GA Service Center. Throughout her career, Katura has worked in various NRCS field offices, state offices in Mississippi, Florida, Vermont, Missouri and now the Georgia State Office. Katura advanced within the agency from Soil Conservationist, Conservation Stewardship Program/Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program Specialist, Environmental Quality Incentives Program Specialist, to her current leadership position as the Assistant State Conservationist for Programs.


Katura has held the offices of President of the Mississippi Chapter and Secretary of the Georgia Chapter of National Organization of Professional Black Natural Resources Conservation Service Employees (NOPBNRCSE). She is a Life Member of NOPBNRCSE and has served as Membership Committee Chair for the Executive Board. 

Katura is also a member of the National Soil and Water Conservation Society, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and a Life Member of the FVSU Agriculture Alumni Association.
