About Interim President Drenda Williams
Drenda Williams currently serves as a Resource Conservationist on the State Conservationist’s Program Staff in Missouri. In her current position, she provides statewide guidance for Protracts, Toolkit, and Program Contracting. She has also served as the Missouri Black Emphasis Program Manager since 2002. She began her career with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in 1993 as one of the first USDA/1890 Scholars, where she participated in the Student Career Experience Program as a computer specialist. Previously she has served as a Geographic Information Systems Specialist on the Missouri Field Technical Services Staff and has held various positions throughout her federal career, including three years as the liaison to NRCS for the Center of Excellence at Lincoln University in Missouri.
During her tenure with NRCS, President Williams has received numerous awards and honors, including an outstanding performance award from the State Conservationist in December of 2006. She has also received performance awards in 2005 and 2004 for providing exceptional assistance to Missouri personnel for the agency’s business tools. In 2005, she joined the NRCS National Employee Development Center’s training cadre as facilitator for their Effective Interpersonal Skills course.
Drenda received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and Natural Resources from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri and is currently performing Masters graduate studies through the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She has been an active member of the National Organization of Professional Black NRCS Employees (NOPBNRCSE) since 1999 and has served as national Correspondence Secretary, and as President, Treasurer, and Secretary for the Missouri Chapter. She was appointed to the position of Vice-President of The Organization by the NOPBNRCSE Executive Board in July of 2007, and became Interim President after the resignation of President Angie Billups in October of 2008.
In her community, President Williams serves as an officer on two public school Parent/Teacher Association boards and as Correspondence Secretary for the Gamma Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She and her husband, David, have three beautiful daughters and currently reside in Jefferson City, Missouri.
